An old proverb says “A problem shared is a problem halved.” We all know that is true in everyday life. If we get lost we ask for directions, if we do not know the answer we use the internet or ask someone. We don’t pretend to know everything, or even know more than you, but we do have a unique approach we call ‘knowledge brokerage’. We don’t need to know the answer but we do need to know someone who does, and we offer to put you in touch with someone who specialises in solving your problem. We go one step further using ‘analogical reasoning’ where we look at a problem in a particular sector and try to match it with a solution which works in similar type of problem in another area. This fusion of knowledge creates linkages and offers new potential. Finally by acting as a broker we can offer more to clients that traditional consultants, a one-stop-shop for solutions and services.
Finding Solutions first means listening to you and finding out what the problem really is, not simply what it appears to be right now. Often underlying fault-lines, systemic failings or institutionalised legacy issues are really the problem, and often anything that does not address them really only papers over the real problem. Our solutions are innovative and effective based on knowledge and analogical reasoning.
Over the years we have found many problems can be placed in the following categories, and our solutions are designed to deal with each. These categories are summarised as problems with Resources, Reputation or Results these are further broken down into issues with:
